“Science is about asking the right questions, and the answers can be surprising and inspiring.”

– Margaret Atwood

At Great Harwood Primary School our intent is to give all children a strong understanding of the world around them whilst acquiring specific skills and knowledge to help them to think and work scientifically. We believe that teaching and learning in Science should excite and stimulate children’s natural curiosity to enable them to make sense of the world in which they live.

We aim to provide children with opportunities to ask questions, make observations and investigate their ideas. By providing a range of practical experiences we develop pupils’ investigative skills and allow children to take risks. We encourage them to learn from their mistakes so that they become more confident, independent learners.
