Tiger Class - Mrs Mack

Below, you will find some information that will help you to support your child whilst they are in Year 4. We use Class Dojo as a messaging tool for everyday contact, so keep your eye on that too.

Key Staff

The main class teacher is Mrs Mack. Miss Culican and Mrs Sabik also teach one afternoon a week in class. We are very lucky that they can share they expertise with us. Mrs Ilyas, our learning support assistant works in class in the mornings and supports some pupils in different interventions in an afternoon.

Reading

In class we are currently reading 'Rumaysa: A Fairytale' by Radiya Hafiza. The children are enjoying this modern day fairytale that still; incorporates elements of the traditional tales they love. It has been filled with mystery, adventure and even some very exciting characters. Once we have finished why not take the sequel out from the local library?

Curriculum

We have started learning all about the Lochness Monster in English and cannot wait to share our adapted stories about the adventure of two children and a very scary monster!

We are excited to start our Design Technology unit looking at food and hygiene. We will share some photos of our outcomes.

In RE this half term, we will be focussing upon the Religion of Christianity and looking at our key question of 'How should we live our lives?'

Our Science unit is looking at States of matter. This is a fantastic unit with lots of chances to complete different practical investigations. My favourite is the ketchup one!

Help at home

Please encourage your child to read their home reader and log in to Times Table Rockstar three times a week and practice their spellings.

In Year 4, the children will be completing their Multiplication Times Table Check in the Summer Term.

There are lots of ways to help the children with these, including singing times table songs, chanting them, playing games online or writing them out in colourful writing. Which is your favourite?
