Tiger Class - Mrs Mack
Below, you will find some information that will help you to support your child whilst they are in Year 4. We use Class Dojo as a messaging tool for everyday contact, so keep your eye on that too.
Key Staff
The main class teacher is Mrs Mack. Miss Culican and Mrs Sabik also teach one afternoon a week in class. We are very lucky that they can share they expertise with us. Mrs Ilyas, our learning support assistant works in class in the mornings and supports some pupils in different interventions in an afternoon.
Reading
In class we are currently reading "The Firework Maker's daughter." What Lila wants to be more than anything else in the world is . . . a Firework-Maker! But firework-making is not just about being able to make Crackle-Dragons and Golden Sneezes. There is also one special secret: every Firework-Maker must make a perilous journey to face the terrifying Fire-Fiend! Not knowing that she needs special protection to survive the Fire-Fiend's flames, Lila sets off alone. Her friends, Chulak and Hamlet - the King's white elephant - race after her. But can they possibly reach her in time?
Curriculum
In English, we will be writing our own stories based on the text above and will be writing our own explanation texts.
In History we will be focussing on the Romans, looking at different leaders and how Ancient Rome started.
Our Science unit is looking at electricity. This is a fantastic unit with lots of chances to complete different practical investigations.
We are very excited to be taking part in 'Let's go Sing' as an additional musical extravaganza.
Our PSHE unit this half term is Keeping Safe.
Help at home
Please encourage your child to read their home reader and log in to Times Table Rockstar three times a week and practice their spellings.

In Year 4, the children will be completing their Multiplication Times Table Check in the Summer Term.
There are lots of ways to help the children with these, including singing times table songs, chanting them, playing games online or writing them out in colourful writing. Which is your favourite?
